Purpose Driven Seating

PD_Logo.jpgI am at the Purpose Driven Church Conference right now. The main room was really crowded during the first session, so Kurt and I decided to look for a less crowded place on campus to go. We went to one of the Venue Tents and there was a big empty room. We pulled up comfy chairs to a table and have the whole room to oursevles. I even went to the soundboad and changed the volume a little since it was a little too loud for us. Hopefully I will have time to take some pictures today and blog more tonight.

Lights & Keys

Some days in ministry are exciting. They are the days when you can look into someones face and know that you have made a difference in their life. You can just know that all of the long hours, all of the personal pain and sacrifice are worth it. Other days are just full of mundane, those days that just get you from here to there. Today was one of those days for me. I actually got more done today in terms of tasks than I have any other day this week, but the tasks were rather dull. I spent almost all the day on a ladder hanging lights on a truss, so that one more project can be considered complete in Cornerstone Hall. Don’t get me wrong… the lights are important and a part of the whole plan, but the day to get them up and working is not always the greatest. The payoff is on Sunday when people come to Overdrive, they will never notice the lights, or the work it took to hang them, but they will leave feeling like Church is a place where they like to be, that it is fun to worship, and learn. That is when all the sweat and work will pay off. Since I always put a lot of links I thought I would just put them all here at the end today. Lights Dimmers Truss

Oh and the key part of the day… we have a locksmith rekeying the church building this week because someone stole the church keys right off a staff desk and so we have to rekey the place. Stuff has already gone missing. Bummer!

That’s all for today… Apprentice Finale tonight… go Tana!!

Disneyland is 50 Years Old

Disneyland is one of my favorite places on earth and I have had the opportunity to be in the park for lots of special events. I was there for the opening of Star Tours, Captain EO & Indiana Jones. For the 40th Anniversary I drove to the park everyday to get a set of the 40 Years trading cards. I even have had a chance to go to a few different cast only events. I now have another experience to add to this list of special events I have had the chance to attend. I won 2 tickets to the Sneak Peek of the 50th Anniversary! How fun is that!! Christie & I got to the park around 9am in time for the Parade. We met some friends from our small group there and they had saved an area for us near the Emporium. The parade is amazing. The characters are sooo cool. You have to see it to believe it. By the way, Mickey & Minnie steal the show. From there we went and got a chance to go on the new Buzz Lightyear ride. It was way fun and I did a pretty decent job at defending the galazy from the Evil Emperor Zurg.

Over the course of the day we also got to go on a few other really fun rides and see lots of cool stuff. All the preparations for the 50th have really paid off and if you have not made plans yet to get to Disneyland in the near future you should. Well actually you might want to wait until after July 17th to go, since if you wait you can ride on Space Mountain as well.

On the homefront there has been some big stuff this week. Sally’s room is nearing completion which is good since I am pretty sure she is going to kick her way out any day now! We officially have a pediatrician, and we have also gotten through our first official birthing class. All good stuff!
