Dinner in Joe’s Basement
Last night we had a lovely dinner with Melissa Doll and her husband Rob. For those who do not know Melissa is my niece, the oldest daughter of my sister Kim. She was married 7 days ago in Indiana. My mom and Sister Becky attended the wedding festivities. With the recent birth of my daughter Sally, a trip to Indiana was not in the cards for me, so it was nice that Rob & Melissa were able to be here as a part of their honeymoon. You may be saying where is Joe’s Basement… well that is the translation of the Italian name of Buca di Beppo. Dinner was really good… we had spicy stuffed shells.
This morning I want to work and painted some more. My new office was officially 5 different colors. If you are keeping score it was orange, green, yellowish cream color, white and tannish white. It will now be Aleutian Blue and Naval Blue. It is a nice combo from the lovely paint people at Sherwin Williams. It is a pretty soothing color. These days I need my office to be as calm as possible. I will be finishing the paint job and moving next week, probably not until Thursday, unless I can squeeze a little time in on Tuesday.
Sally & Christie are both napping right now… one with a headache and the other because she is an infant. I am watching Crimson Tide and readying myself for classes next week.
Here is a question for anyone reading to answer… If you could take a ride in a Navy submarine would you? (Not the Disneyland kind… the real Navy kind…)
Waiting for Class To Start
No I am not taking a class… I am teaching one. For those of you that have not heard I am teaching 2 classes at Hope International University (PCC in our hearts). I graduated from this fine institution in 1997 and since that time have been asked back to teach a music class and now a social psychology class. I found out from one of my professors who is still here that it reads in fine print on our diplomas that we are required to come back and teach when needed. If that is the case then I think they could forgive some Student Loans or something. Thanks to the magic of Kurt I have Internet Access in the rooms in which I teach so I can check email and such between classes. On Monday I have about 45 minutes between classes… so I use it wisely (Diet Cokes and blogging).
This week has started out pretty hectic… lots to do before Wednesday and frankly I am not sure how it is all going to get done. There is a class on Wednesday night that I have to create a booklet for and as of this morning the materials were not done… sigh… at least they are not waiting on me. Tomorrow should be interesting with all that needs to be done. By Wednesday at 3:30 I am sure I will feel like the weight of the world is off my shoulders. Teaching these classes has proven to be more of an emotional drain than I thought it would be… mostly since I need to prep in my “spare” time, but that is my time with wifely and daughter and I would much rather hang with them.
Sally makes the cutest little faces and noises now. Last night daddy and Sally had some alone time. Christie had a memorial service to attend at the beach and Sally and I waited at home for her. Christie fed her before she left and Sally was making big ol’ heavy eyes so I thought I would get her to nap while I prepped for my classes this week. She slept for all of about 25 minutes and then her whole body shook and I knew the nap was over. The next hour was spent trying to calm her down and feed her. She was really hungry! When Christie got home I said where did the last 2 hours go… she said that was how she felt the whole summer. I know I am biased, but she really is a great baby.
Well I am going to go find some water now before class… hope all of you dear readers are well… leave a comment and let me know.
P.S. Yesterday was John’s birthday so we had ice cream cake YAY! Go wish him well on his blog.
P.P.S. Kurt… I would like to VPN to the church but can’t here at Hope… any way around it?
