Staff Retreat to the “Real OC”
The church staff that I am a member of spent the better part of Sunday through Tuesday at our annual Staff Retreat. Generally this event is held in the fall, but schedules prevented that from happening, so this was our first attempt at a January gathering. All in all a good time was had by all. In addition to meeting to discuss issues and events for the coming year, we always pray together and also we enjoy time together. We got to spend some time in the jacuzzi, play some cards, do some mini-golf and we even had dinner at the famous “Salt Creek Grill”. If you are a fan of Laguna Beach you may recognize this restaurant, as it has been featured on the show several times. We also had the annual Trivial Pursuit grudge match of Young Guys vs. Old Guys. This year the cut-off was Dave Moses, so Scott Grooms moved up to the old guys team. Despite the best efforts of the old guys (can you really debate a question for 10 minutes?) they were unsuccessful at pulling out a victory and so the Young Guys continue to reign supreme. In what can only be described as a case of sour grapes, Bruce has decreed that we will no longer play Trivial Pursuit and that next year we will mix up the teams. The worst part of the whole thing was missing Christie & Sally! Oh and by the way… Sally is for sure crawling now.
Blogging Rocks!
I think that blogging is cool… I only wish that I did it more often. I know that my gentle readers have been very patient with me, but patience can only stretch so thin, so I will endeavor to post more often this year in my blog. Here are some highlights of the last few weeks…
1. We got a sweet video camera for Christmas! We are working on Sally’s first full length feature film entitled “Splashing in the Bath.” It will be inspired by “Singing in the Rain” but instead of singing and dancing it is more like splashing and screaming. When it is done I will post it.
2. My daughter is the proud owner of a large stuffed pink pony. There are a lot of things in life that you can look down the road and see, but in my wildest dreams I never thought that I would have a little girl who would have a gi-normous pink pony. I will try and post some pictures of her slobbering on it. She is still working on her gait with the pony… next week we are hoping to start jumping training.
3. Alex “Spidey” Leo rocks the Charlie Brown nation! I asked Jeff and the Overdrive band to perform “Christmastime is Here” from the classic Charlie Brown Christmas Special. Jeff was able to get Spidey to play the brass part of the song, and it rocked! How much fun is it to have a band that can just do a really cool song, because I asked them to.
4. A new website for the church is in the works. In the next 2 weeks you will see an all new fcchb.com and also the launch of a new URL for the church www.fccConnection.com. Should be cool. Development is well underway and I am starting to get really excited about it now.
5. Staff Retreat is next week… then the wedding… then Groundhog Day… then Valentines… next thing you know it will be my Birthday. Never to early to start shopping… 50 inch plasmas are getting cheaper and cheaper.
Well that is enough for now… good night all and see you next post.
