Day of Adventures
Friday was indeed a Day of Adventure. We had a 9am appointment with Sally’s wonderful Dr. for her 10 month appointment. She is in the 97th percentile for height!! She is also the toughest little person I have ever met. She gutted out a Hepititus B shot, a TB test and had a little blood drawn for an iron test. She checked out okay on that and we have to check the TB one on Sunday. She was soooo goood! She just sat on my lap and she barely even cried for 10 seconds during the shot. Amazing.
Then off to work for a day of “fun” WooWoo.
Came home this evening and the fam and I went for a little drive that ended up at Coldstone Creamery. It was pretty busy, but usually goes pretty fast. Tonight was the exception to the rule. The 2 girls were doing their best to keep their heads above water, but it was not going well. After the girl made my ice cream, she went to put it into the container and ended up fumbling it and wearing my ice cream and meant she needed to make me another one. When that was done we went to the register to pay, but that was quite the ordeal as well. The credit card machine was out of paper and she did not know where to find any. She called someone on the phone who was able to talk her through getting the paper, but did not know how to explain to her the proper way to load it, so after 10 minutes of waiting she asked me if I needed a receipt and I said I did not, and I left. But the quote for the evening goes to the other girl who was helping another customer. They were done and the lady needed to pay, and she had cash, so there should not have been a hold up, but one of their registers was not working properly and my transaction was open on the other, so she looked up at the customer and said, “We have to like, wait, cause this register here is, like, stupid”
Gallery 2 Integration Test
So in an attempt to try and get all of this new software working I am trying to figure out how to use images stored in the gallery directly into the blog. There is a pretty cool plug in that integrates WordPress & Gallery 2 together, so that images can be tagged directly in the posting area of WordPress. It creates a thumbnail image and then it links it over to the gallery when you click on it. So far so good.
A Big Switch…
In addition to some new colors and theme on my blog, there is another big change. It is now powered by WordPress. My brother in law Kurt Cooke has used it successfully for some time. I originally was using Movable Type. It seemed simple enough and fairly straightforward, but over time I have come to realize that it has some difficult things about it. It is really tough to customize it without a lot of tweaking of the CSS. It also has this lovely requirement that everytime you make any change to the site you have to save it and rebuild it. So I installed WordPress and played around with it for a few days and decided to make the switch. It has an import feature for Movable Type built in, so I did not even have to lose my old posts. So here is to a new blogging platform. Good times… noodle salad.
