Ten on Tuesday (Friday Edition)
1. Things are going swimmingly here at Mariners. This past week was full of firsts here. My first attendance at a Pastor’s meeting at the invitation of Kenton. My first attendance at the LAB conference here on campus. My first new staff orientation, which included some time for questions with Kenton. And how could I leave out my first day without a meeting on the schedule.
2. Things happen here at the speed of light. I asked the IT Director what process I needed to go through to purchase and install some software on our web server and by the next morning he had gotten it, installed and tested it. Impressive! Now our Car Ministry is going to really be able to market the vehicles that they sell to help fund the Global Outreach and Lighthouse Ministries.
3. I learned this week that as an employee I am eligible to join a gym that has some discounts for Mariners staff. The funny part is that it is the Jewish Center gym across the street. I guess that since I bear the mark of Abraham, I am qualified to join… hopefully no one there will want to swear an oath with me.
4. I am an expert child hairdresser. One of the joys of being the morning parent is that I get to choose the wardrobe for the day, and now since Sally’s hair is long enought to be in her face, hair is a part of the routine as well. I am pretty sure that I am going to draw the line on cosemtics though. She is going to have to learn how to do that on her own.

5. I love my new co-workers. They are all very passionate people who are super commited to improving the lives of people in Orange County and around the world, as well as developing the people of Mariners. In fact my closest officemate is Low. He currently has a Valentines Day mailbox on his desk with a note encouraging people to fill his love tank. While I have not put anything in it, I do feel like I should mention here on the pages of this blog that he is a great guy and he gives a mean flow question.
6. Valentines day happened for Christie and me over 2 nights. This is what happens when you both work and have a child. Dinner and a movie has to occur on 2 nights, because there is not generally enough time to do both. We had dinner last Friday night while Sally spent some time with Grandma Sharon. She got a bath and lots of play time! We had Macaroni Grill. Then on Valentines Day, we left Sally with Grandma Patty and we went to see “Music & Lyrics”. Good times.
7. Windows Vista is fine, but it’s no MAC thats for sure. I have a Mac on my desk at work, but I have not gotten my laptop yet, so I am using a Windows laptop for now. It has Vista, which is pretty cool, but don’t be fooled. It is still Windows.
8. Matt and I are working on some really cool projects for the coming weeks. A newsletter, some new envelopes, postcards, and some other more mundane stuff. Matt is a cool guy, who is a geek, like myself. I was excited this week because I got to show him Google Analytics, and now he is totally geeked out on it. Now if we could just get Kyle to put it on the main site, so we could see the full picture!
9. 2 words… GLOBAL CAFE! How fun a place is that! In the last week, I have had staff meeting there, bought a card and gift for my wife, had a lunch meeting with Michael from FreeChurchPrinting, and consumed way to much of the yummy Paradise Tea. This place is great!
10. One of my favorite blogs I read every day is Ragamuffin Soul. Carlos rocks the blog world like no other… and he has the coolest Korean baby ever! Today Los had an amazing video on his site. It involves Benny Hinn. Benny is my favorite character on TBN, and frankly, I have almost been healed by him (long story short…. I was with Billy at TBN, had a bad cold and Benny was in studio. I was trying desperatly not to cough, so I did not get called up on stage!) So with no further adieu… I present this video of Benny Hinn. Enjoy.
