rush limbaugh makes me crazy.

my dad was a talk radio junkie. i inherited that gene from him. i recall listening to rush limbaugh back in his first year on KFI640. he was controversial and funny. he called out those who were in the extremes of the political arena. over time his influence grew, as did his audience. now millions of people listen to his program daily.

so what is my problem with him now? simple. he doesn’t tell the truth. he generalizes facts. he states opinions as fact. he takes clips out of context. he sees conspiracies where there are none. he builds fear. he roots for failure. he sells himself as a defender of the american people. he bills himself as a solution to the problems. he preaches selfishness, not self reliance.

so my choice… I generally do not listen anymore. i would rather listen to something else. something that makes me think. something that presents all sides to an argument and lets me arrive at a conclusion. something that works towards a solution and not something that just rips apart those who are working hard to propose solutions. i’m all for spirited political debate. i just don’t think that is what rush is doing anymore.

If you need to listen to all sides then you have no base beliefs of your own. Everyone needs a base set of belief in order to assess the validity of an argument. If you don't have any base beliefs then you'll believe anything & anybody.

i would agree that we all approach life with many sets of presuppositions about how the world should work and our place in it. it is not for a lack of beliefs that I want to hear all sides of an argument… it is because I am not foolish enough to believe that I know everything there is to know about a subject until I have heard both sides.

I really like Rush, Hannity and all the other guys. But I do believe they talk it up a little for intertainment. So it maybe exagerated a little or a lot. But I do like to be informed from both sides. The media doesnt report on everything. It is good to listen and make up my own mind. A little research dont hurt either.
